Lockheed Martin: Locking Profit, Marauding Nations

Lockheed Martin currently leads the defense industry in the world with net sales at US$ 51 billion for 2017. Nearly 70% are attributed to sales to US agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and the Department of Agriculture. It also takes part in the surveillance and information processing programs of the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, and the National Security Agency, among others. The purchase of arms by the US and other countries—albeit often justified as a measure for safety and defense—makes war more likely and, in effect, prompts the certainty of human rights violations.
